Kurt Geeraerts ...

... is amateur-fotograaf en vooral gefascineerd door natuur, in het bijzonder door wilde bijen. 

De ontmoeting met een bijzondere plant of een dier is verwonderlijk, die ontmoeting vastleggen op foto voelt als 'het balsemen van de tijd' (Roland Barthes). Natuur is schaars en de biodiversiteit neemt af. Zijn foto's zijn daarom eerder documentair van aard, dan artistiek. Fotograferen ziet Kurt als een zachte vorm van activisme: anderen tonen hoe mooi de natuur is, in de hoop dat we er allemaal wat beter voor gaan zorgen. 

... is an amateur photographer, fascinated by nature, especially by wild bees. 

The encounter of a wild plant or animal evokes a strong feeling of awe. Taking pictures of this encounter is like 'the balming of time' (Roland Barthes). The biodiversity on our planet is in decline, nature is getting scarce. His pictures are rather documentary, than artistic. Kurt sees his photography as a soft eco activism: he shows others the beauty of nature, in order to create awareness and a more profound stewardship.
